Why RoHS is important

RoHS is the European Union (EU) Directive 2002/95/EC that restricts the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and other hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products sold into the EU as of 1 July 2006. Elcomponics can help you take the necessary steps towards RoHS compliance because we've already taken those steps ourselves. Over the past one year, we've invested talent and time to thoroughly understand the lead-free issue and its challenges.

Easing the transition

The most important thing in any transition is flexibility. As the majority of our compliant products are "backwards compatible," they allow a phased transition to full RoHS compliance. We're also continuing to produce our standard products, since customers in certain industries, such as Military and Aerospace, remain unaffected by RoHS regulations. Our objective is to ensure every one of our customers a smooth transition with no interruption of product delivery and minimal inventory risk.
